ABOUT ME

Hi - my name is Sandy and I love reading, writing and talking about children's literature!

 

Writing and reading has long been an important part of my life. I am particularly drawn to books written by Australia-based authors. I feel that Australia produces so many amazing children's/YA authors and not many book review blogs are devoted primarily to Aussie authors. Which is what inspired me to start up this one!

My love of children’s and young adult literature was sparked by a study of children's literature at the University of Canberra, followed by working as a children’s librarian in the public library service.

 

The biggest highlight of my writing life so far was having my unpublished YA manuscript Exposed shortlisted for the Harper Collins Australia Matilda Children's Lit Prize in 2020.

 

Other highlights include being awarded two Varuna Residential Fellowships to work on my young adult manuscript Scar and the publication of my collection of short stories, Secrets (Ginninderra Press), in 2004.
